What it actually costs#
Withings has a free entry point and paid plans above it. The free part is stated plainly on its setup page, read through a source-snapshot run on October 27, 2026: "There are no prerequisites, and free access is provided." Withings describes the Public API as "designed for individuals and partners without a formal contract", and its integration guide says it also applies if you want to access your own Withings data through the API.
| Cost | Who pays | What Withings' pages say |
|---|---|---|
| Public API access | You (the developer) | "There are no prerequisites, and free access is provided" |
| Higher limits and dedicated support | You, on the Enterprise plan | "the Enterprise plan unlocks higher limits and dedicated support" |
| Some biomarkers | You, on the Advanced Biomarkers plan | The catalogue marks entries that require the Advanced Biomarkers plan |
| Withings devices | Your users, or you | Users may already own devices, or you may distribute them "through your own channels" |
| Cellular devices, RPM, logistics | You, under a contract | Separate Withings solutions, including direct-to-patient dropshipping of pre-configured devices and kits |
| Your infrastructure | You (the developer) | Servers, storage, token refresh, the notification endpoint |
Withings' home page links "Compare API plans", but that page did not render in our snapshot, so this page quotes no plan prices and no list of what each plan includes. Ask Withings for the plan sheet before you budget.
Where the free plan stops#
The standard API enforces a limit of 120 requests a minute across your whole application, and Withings warns that polling for fresh data "hits this ceiling quickly", which is why it points integrations to notifications. Withings also says it does not commit to a real-time SLA on the standard plan. If you need a higher request rate or stricter guarantees, its documentation sends you to the Enterprise plan. Withings' catalogue lists 96 biomarkers across 9 device families and flags the ones that need the Advanced Biomarkers plan, so check a metric there before you promise it to users. The integration itself is covered in the Withings API integration guide.
Withings+: announced, then gone from the home page#
On October 16, 2026 the Internet Archive captured a notice on Withings' developer home page: "Withings+ becomes required on the Start for Free API plan from October 12, 2026." It said Withings accounts created after that date "will need a membership to share health data with a free-plan app, including apps that are already live", that accounts created before it are unaffected, and that Enterprise lifts the requirement for specific use cases. On a free-plan app, that membership would be something your newer users need, not a fee charged to you.
The notice was not on the home page when we read it on October 27, 2026, and nothing we read replaced it. We could not confirm whether the requirement still applies; ask Withings before you build pricing or onboarding around either answer.
The catch#
- The plan sheet is the missing piece. Free access, Enterprise and Advanced Biomarkers are all named in Withings' documentation, but the prices and the exact plan boundaries are on a page we could not read.
- Your cloud choice is permanent. Withings says your cloud is set when your access contract is created and cannot be switched afterwards. The US Medical Cloud is for entities covered by HIPAA that need their data to stay onshore, by request.
- The user-side cost may have moved. Whether new users need Withings+ to share with a free-plan app is the open question above.
How it compares#
Withings names paid plans where many device makers have none: Wahoo, for one, says its API is currently provided at no charge and lists no tiers (see Wahoo API pricing), and Polar API pricing covers another sports-device maker's terms. If you want Withings data alongside other devices through one integration, aggregators that list Withings charge for it; see health data aggregator pricing and Withings API alternatives.
Bottom line#
As of October 27, 2026, you can start on the Withings Public API for free, with no prerequisites, at 120 requests a minute. Higher limits, dedicated support and some biomarkers are on paid plans whose prices Withings' plans page did not show us, and the Withings+ rule for new users is unconfirmed. Frequently asked questions
- Does Withings charge for API access?
- Not to start. Withings' setup page says there are no prerequisites and free access is provided on its EU Medical Cloud. It also sells API plans above that: its documentation names an Enterprise plan with higher limits and dedicated support, and an Advanced Biomarkers plan that some catalogue entries require. The plans page did not render for us on October 27, 2026, so we cannot quote prices.
- What does the Withings Enterprise plan add?
- Withings' notification guide says the standard API enforces 120 requests a minute across your application and that the Enterprise plan unlocks higher limits and dedicated support. It also says Withings does not commit to a real-time SLA on the standard plan and points to Enterprise for stricter guarantees. Withings' plans page, which would give the price, did not render for us.
- What is the Withings Advanced Biomarkers plan?
- It is a Withings API plan that some data requires: the biomarker catalogue, which lists 96 biomarkers across 9 device families, marks the entries that need the Advanced Biomarkers plan. Check the catalogue for each metric you plan to show before you promise it, because the free Public API does not cover those entries.
- Do Withings users need Withings+ for my app to read their data?
- We could not confirm it. A notice captured on Withings' developer home page on October 16, 2026 said Withings accounts created after October 12, 2026 would need a membership to share health data with a free-plan app, with Enterprise lifting that for specific use cases. The notice was gone from the home page on October 27, 2026. Ask Withings before you plan around it.
