Terra vs Vital (Junction): Health-Data APIs Compared (2026)

How Terra and Vital/Junction compare#

Both products solve the same core problem, one integration instead of a separate build per wearable, and since this page was first written they have converged: Terra's homepage now sells lab testing, and Junction's pricing page now publishes a flat entry plan. An earlier version of this page said labs were the thing Junction did that Terra did not, and that Junction priced per user with a monthly minimum; neither is true of the vendors' pages as we read them on October 17, 2026. What still separates them:

• Lab reach. Junction offers lab testing "spanning all 50 states" through "a nationwide network of labs (NY, NJ, and RI included)". Terra's lab page says "Nationwide US, plus the UK", and its Vantage API docs list the United Kingdom and the USA as supported countries.
• Wearable coverage and delivery. Terra markets 500+ providers and delivers to webhooks or straight into databases, cloud storage and queues. Junction markets 300+ wearables and devices and pushes webhook events, with ETL pipelines on its Enterprise plan.
• Price shape. Terra bills a subscription plus credits per connected data source; Junction's Launch plan is a flat monthly fee for up to 500 connected users, and everything past that, including labs, is a custom Enterprise contract.

Terra#

Terra is a server-side API with mobile SDKs: its FAQ describes one integration returning "standardised data from 500+ providers, including Garmin, Fitbit, Apple Health, Oura, WHOOP and Strava", covering "sleep stages and latency, workouts, heart rate, HRV, VO2max, blood oxygen (SpO2), continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), menstrual cycle, body composition and per-set strength training". Its docs explain why the SDK exists: Apple Health, Samsung Health and Health Connect "have no cloud API for third parties, so your mobile app reads them with the Terra SDK and sends the data to Terra."

Its lab side is the Vantage API, which, per its docs, lets you "order blood and DNA test kits, track fulfilment, and receive lab results in FHIR format through a single API". On pricing, "Subscriptions start from $399 per month billed annually, or $499 per month billed monthly", with 100,000 credits a month; each "active authentication is one connected data source for one end user, and costs 200 credits per month", and the first 400 events per active authentication are free. Vital / Junction#

Junction is Vital under a new name: it announced the rebrand on March 11, 2025, alongside an $18M Series A led by Creandum, and its docs still accept *.tryvital.io base URLs. Its homepage pitches "300+ wearables" plus lab operations "spanning all 50 states", and its 2025 announcement described ordering "across all 50 states, with results from 10+ labs (including LabCorp & Quest)". Collection options are walk-in, at-home kit and mobile phlebotomy.

The pricing page has two plans. Launch is "a flat $300 a month" for connecting "wearables and devices for up to 500 users", billed monthly. Enterprise is custom and billed annually, and it is where you go "when you need lab testing, unlimited users, uptime SLAs, or a signed BAA"; custom OAuth credentials are listed there too. Junction says device data "is typically flowing within days of picking up the API keys", while lab testing takes longer because kits and workflows are configured for you: "expect 4-6 weeks depending on how much customization you need". Each team is tied to an EU or US region, which "dictates where data is stored".

Which should you pick?#

Recommend by use case rather than crowning a winner:

• US-only product where labs matter and you want ordering across every state → Junction. Its lab network and operations support are the center of the product; budget for Enterprise from the start, because labs are not on Launch.
• Labs for UK as well as US users, or wearables first with labs later → Terra. Its lab ordering covers the US and the UK, and the wearable side keeps the widest marketed provider list of the two.
• Wearables only, up to 500 connected users, and a fixed bill → Junction's Launch plan is the simplest number in the category: flat, monthly, no contract.
• Wearables at a few thousand users → by our arithmetic Terra costs roughly $899 a month at 1,000 connected sources and $4,899 at 5,000 on annual billing, while Junction needs an Enterprise quote past 500; get the quote before deciding. Our aggregator pricing page shows the full comparison.
• Data stored in the EU → Junction lets you pick an EU region on any plan; Terra's Enterprise plan lists a "Dedicated instance to localised area", so ask Terra where that can be.

Plan names, limits and prices in this category change, and this page has already had to reverse two of its own earlier claims.
