# Wahoo API Pricing: Is the Wahoo Cloud API Free?

> Wahoo's Cloud API costs nothing to use today: Wahoo's Public API Agreement says access to and use of its API materials and platform "are currently provided at no charge", and reserves Wahoo's right to charge in future, naming rated pricing and differentiated pricing for business users. Access still needs Wahoo's approval, a sandbox app is limited to 250 requests a day and a production app to 5,000, and the agreement forbids charging your own users for access to Wahoo's API. None of the Wahoo pages we read on October 27, 2026 lists a price.

## What it actually costs

Wahoo answers the price question in its Public API Agreement, which a source-snapshot run read on October 27, 2026: "Access to and use of the Wahoo API Materials and Wahoo Platform are currently provided at no charge." The same paragraph keeps the door open. Wahoo reserves the right to charge for the API materials and platform access, "including, without limitation, rated pricing and/or differentiated pricing for business users."

| Cost | Who pays | What Wahoo's pages say |
|---|---|---|
| Using the Cloud API | You (the developer) | "Currently provided at no charge"; Wahoo may charge in future, business pricing included |
| Getting in | You (the developer) | Wahoo is "currently limiting use of the API to those who request it", and production apps go through a review |
| Capacity | You (the developer) | Sandbox apps 250 requests a day, production apps 5,000; more on request to support (below) |
| Support | You, for your own users | Wahoo has no obligation to provide technical or other support; you support and maintain your app |
| Wahoo devices and apps | Your users | The API does not share workouts recorded in third-party apps |
| Your infrastructure | You (the developer) | Servers, storage, token handling, the webhook endpoint |

None of the Wahoo pages we read lists a paid plan, a price per user or a price per request, so this page quotes none. The mechanics of the API itself are in the [Wahoo API integration guide](/integrate/wahoo-api).

## Rate limits are the ceiling you can see

Wahoo publishes the limits in its Cloud API documentation:

| Window | Sandbox apps | Production apps |
|---|---|---|
| Every 5 minutes | 25 | 200 |
| Per hour | 100 | 1,000 |
| Per day | 250 | 5,000 |

Requests to authenticate, refresh tokens and download files do not count against them. A production app gets the higher numbers only after Wahoo's review, and Sandbox and Production are separate applications: Wahoo says a Sandbox app cannot later be converted into a Production app. For more throughput, Wahoo's documentation says to contact support to request an increase; it does not say whether an increase costs anything.

## The catch: terms that cost money

The costs that can surprise you sit in the agreement's conditions rather than on an invoice.

- **You cannot sell access to Wahoo's data.** The agreement says you may not charge end users in any manner for access to or use of the Wahoo API materials or anything included in them. You can still charge for functionality the Wahoo platform does not provide.
- **Supporting competitors is restricted.** You may not use the API materials "in any manner that is competitive to Wahoo or the Wahoo Platform", including in an app that also supports a third party providing services competitive to Wahoo's products, as Wahoo determines in its sole discretion. In our reading, an app that also connects other brands' trainers or bike computers should raise this with Wahoo (wahooapi@wahoofitness.com is the contact the agreement gives) before launch.
- **Data cannot be resold.** You may not sell, license or lease Wahoo Data to any third party, including advertisers or data brokers, even if your users consent.
- **Deletion on demand.** Wahoo may ask you to remove Wahoo Data you hold, and you must do so within 48 hours.
- **Breach notice.** You must tell Wahoo about a security breach involving your app or Wahoo Data within 24 hours of discovering it.
- **Attribution.** You attribute Wahoo using the links and logos Wahoo gives you.
- **Access can end.** Wahoo may stop making the API available to you at any time and may amend the agreement; continuing to use the API after an amendment counts as accepting it.
- **A small liability cap.** Wahoo's aggregate liability under the agreement is capped at the greater of the fees you paid Wahoo in the last year, if any, or 100 dollars.

## Money that can flow the other way

Wahoo's developer page invites API developers to join the Wahoo Fitness Affiliate program "to get credit for the Wahoo Fitness items your users buy". It does not state the commission, and we did not read the affiliate terms.

## How it compares

Wahoo sits with the wearable APIs that cost nothing to call, where the spending goes on integration work, your users' devices and your own servers; [Polar API pricing](/pricing/polar-api-pricing) is the closest comparison on this site. [Garmin API pricing](/pricing/garmin-api-pricing) and [Strava API pricing](/pricing/strava-api-pricing) cover the other sports platforms. If Wahoo's approval or terms do not fit, [Wahoo API alternatives](/alternatives/wahoo-api-alternatives) lists the other routes to the same users, and aggregators that connect Wahoo charge for it: see [health data aggregator pricing](/pricing/health-data-aggregator-pricing).

## Bottom line

As of October 27, 2026, the Wahoo Cloud API is free to use under an agreement that lets Wahoo start charging, including business pricing, and change its terms whenever it chooses. Budget for the approval wait, design for the published rate limits, check the competitive-use clause against your product, and re-read the agreement before each launch.

## FAQ

### Does Wahoo charge for its Cloud API?

Not today. Wahoo's Public API Agreement says access to and use of its API materials and platform are currently provided at no charge. It also reserves the right to charge in future at Wahoo's discretion, naming rated pricing and differentiated pricing for business users, so treat free as the current state rather than a promise.

### Can I charge my users for features built on Wahoo data?

Only for what Wahoo does not provide. The agreement says you may not charge end users in any manner for access to or use of the Wahoo API materials or anything included in them, but it does not stop you charging for functionality the Wahoo platform does not provide.

[Permalink](https://aifitnessapi.com/pricing/wahoo-api-pricing#faq-2)

### How do I get a higher Wahoo API rate limit?

First by getting a production app approved: Wahoo's documentation lists 25 requests every 5 minutes, 100 an hour and 250 a day for sandbox apps, and 200, 1,000 and 5,000 for production apps after Wahoo's review. Beyond that, Wahoo says to contact support to request an increase; its pages do not say whether that costs anything.

### Can a multi-brand app use the Wahoo API?

Check with Wahoo first. The agreement bars using the API materials in any manner competitive to Wahoo, including in an app that also supports a third party providing services competitive to Wahoo's products, as Wahoo determines in its sole discretion. That is our reading of the clause, not Wahoo's guidance; wahooapi@wahoofitness.com is the contact the agreement gives.
